Poached Eggs

Eggs are excellent sources of Vitamin D and calcium, both important nutrients to strengthen your bones and teeth. Try this quick and easy poached eggs recipe:

Fill up a deep pan with water, add a pinch of salt, vinegar, and bring to boil. Using a spoon (slotted spoons are recommended), stir up a tiny whirlpool in the water. Crack the egg and gently release it into the centre of the whirlpool. Done correctly, the whites will wrap around the yolk. Depending on how runny you like your eggs, let the egg set for 3-5 minutes. Three minutes will give you a completely runny yolk and 5 minutes a firm centre.

Once the egg is set, gently lift it from the boiling water with a spoon or ladle, and place it on a plate overlaid with kitchen paper (to prevent a soggy toast). Eat with buttered toast.

Healthy Smoothies

A fruity smoothie made up of kiwi and mixed berries makes a great breakfast option – packed with vitamin C! Apart from oranges, kiwis contain more Vitamin C than most fruits, especially considering its small size. A good daily dose of Vitamin C is great for your gums and helps to ward off periodontal disease.

Eating healthy breakfast like these greatly improves your overall well-being in the long run.

Simply mix up the following fruits with yoghurt (8 ounce) in a blender and you’re good to go:

Kiwi – 1 fruit

Frozen berries – 1/2 cup

Orange – 1/2 cup

Banana – 1 fruit

Strawberries – 1 cup

Fast French Toast

This is a low-sugar option that is not only good for your teeth, it gives you the energy boost you need to get the morning started.

Melt one teaspoon of butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Combine two eggs, a quarter cup of full-fat milk, a pinch each of vanilla powder, ground cinnamon and stevia into a shallow dish.

Coat two slices of gluten-free bread with the mixture, drain excess and place onto frying pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes each side, until golden and crisp. To add colour and taste, serve with toppings like rice malt syrup and baked rhubarb.

Don’t forget to brush after breakfast!

No matter how teeth-friendly these breakfast options are, it is still recommended that you clean your teeth after each meal. To save time, pack a tooth-brush kit in your bag as you head out, so that you can brush your teeth at the workplace later. This will also give your teeth at least 30 minutes to remineralize from the attack of food acids.1
