Teeth whitening treatments can lift most common teeth stains and brighten teeth up to 8 shades, helping you to show the smile you want. These treatments are popular with adults of all ages, from young urban professionals to baby boomers.
At Sydney CBD Dental, our experienced dentists use safe and reliable whitening systems to help our patients achieve their desired aesthetic results and maintain that brightness over time. We offer in-chair laser teeth whitening performed by a qualified dentist right in the heart of Sydney.

Not everyone is suitable for teeth whitening. Your initial consultation is a chance for our dentists to examine your teeth and gums and check your dental history to look for anything that needs to be addressed.
It's important that your teeth and gums are healthy before a cosmetic treatment can begin, as oral health problems can affect the success of the treatment. If we notice signs of a problem such as tooth decay or gum disease, this will need to be treated as a priority. If there may be an underlying problem causing your teeth to darken, we will also try to identify and address this.
If you are eligible for teeth whitening and you're happy to continue, we can then arrange a second consultation where your dentist will explain the different whitening options we offer and can answer any questions you have about teeth whitening cost and risks.
Here at Sydney CBD Dental, we provide in-chair laser teeth whitening carried out by our dentists.
Both types of treatment involve applying a bleaching gel to the teeth. This includes hydrogen peroxide, which is safely formulated at the level needed to help you achieve your desired level of whitening.
Only a qualified dentist is permitted to use high concentrations of peroxide in whitening treatments. These are activated by a UV light to offer faster results compared to whitening at home.
Our dentists use the Philips Zoom whitening system, which offers improved patient comfort and fast and consistent results compared to some other whitening systems. We carefully apply strong bleaching gel to the teeth, which is activated by a UV light.
Using Philips Zoom whitening, teeth can be whitened up to 8 shades in a single appointment, with little to no irritation. To help you maintain your new smile, we recommend having a repeat treatment every 2 to 3 years.
If you're thinking about having your teeth whitened by our professional dentists in Sydney CBD, we'll walk you through the process during your consultation appointment so you know what to expect. You'll also have the opportunity to ask us any questions you have about the treatment, to help you decide if it's the right choice for you.
Laser teeth whitening at Sydney CDB Dental involves 3 steps:
Your dentist will professionally clean your teeth to remove any leftover food or other debris from their surface that could affect your results.
We'll make sure your mouth and throat are protected during the treatment by fitting a retractor. This also helps to hold your mouth open during the whitening process. We'll also apply a protective coating to your gums and provide you with safety glasses to protect your eyes from UV rays.
We can then begin applying the whitening agent to your teeth in stages. After each stage, we'll focus a UV light onto the gel. This causes it to activate and start breaking down stains on the tooth's surface.
This process is usually repeated 3 times over 45 minutes, depending on the individual and how much whitening is needed. You may notice a difference right away, but it can sometimes take a few minutes or hours for your new white smile to fully appear.
Teeth whitening is considered a safe treatment when it's carried out by or under the guidance of a professional dentist. However, these treatments are not recommended for people under 18 years of age or women who are pregnant or lactating.
As with any dental treatment, there are certain risks and side-effects associated with teeth whitening that patients should be aware of. These include chemical burns, if whitening gel comes into contact with the gums or other soft tissues, and increased sensitivity of the teeth.
These risks can be reduced considerably when you choose in-chair whitening and follow your dentist's instructions.
Teeth whitening is not a permanent treatment, and you will need to schedule repeat treatments at regular intervals if you want to maintain your white smile. We recommend in-chair whitening every 2–3 years.
You can keep your teeth white for longer by avoiding sources of stains – such as coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco – and following good oral hygiene.
While it's possible to buy whitening toothpastes and strips from stores, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends using a product provided by your dentist.
As well as taking longer to work and producing less reliable results, over-the-counter whitening products also have more risks than treatments used under the guidance of a dental professional.
Teeth whitening is strictly a cosmetic procedure that can be chosen for aesthetic reasons and does not have an impact on your oral health. However, our dentists in Sydney will give you a complete oral health assessment before your treatment to see if there are any issues that should be treated as a priority.
Not everyone has naturally white teeth, and it's possible to have good oral health even if your teeth are darker or have stains. Teeth whitening is a personal choice based on individual preference.
Ask about our payment plans to find out how we can make your teeth whitening cost more manageable by breaking it down into regular monthly instalments.
As this is a cosmetic treatment, teeth whitening cost cannot be claimed on most health funds.
